if a tree falls in the living room, does it make a sound?
meet doug, our winter solstice tree
the kids took turns sawing through doug's trunk
then the guys towed him back to the car for the trip home
i couldn't wait to use the vintage glass mushroom ornaments that i thrifted over the summer
p.s. after we got doug all decked out, he fell over and i did indeed hear it. fortunately we only lost one ornament. the car ride must have made him whoozy ;)
now that we have a tree, i can go back to making and gathering a bunch of good stuff to bring up the hill. crimson & clover on the road again...
We totally had a tree fall over one year. It was my cat's fault though. Those little mushroom ornaments are awesome! So cute! I love mushies. At least there was only one ornament casualty.
I love that you name your tree! I'm a bit jealous, a) because I've never had a "real" Christmas tree and b) because we don't even have a plastic one this year...okay okay mostly it's because we fly to our home town in like 5 days but still! Yes, I am that obnoxious person who really get into the Christmas/Solstice (though summer solstice in our case) spirit.
Doug! What a perfect name, is he a Douglas fir perchance? Love your mushroom ornaments and are those sparkly Cost Plus stars I spy? We have them too ;)
I keep expecting to hear the sound of our tree falling at any moment. The way the kitten keeps trying to climb it, it's pretty much a Christmas miracle that it hasn't come toppling down yet.

WE have a fake tree this year, it is a black one. We have uncoordinated baubles...Doug looks precious, and i feel lazy for not having a real one.
